Four people have been killed and two others wounded in a Ukrainian military strike that hit a feed-processing plant in Kursk Region, western Russia, local governor Aleksandr Khinstein has said.

The attack on Wednesday morning targeted a facility in the village of Kozyrevka, Khinstein wrote in a post on Telegram.

According to first reports, four employees of the feed-processing plant were killed, including three men and one woman, he said.

Another worker was seriously wounded in the strike and rushed to a hospital, while his colleague who suffered minor injuries was treated on the spot, the governor added.

Khinstein said that the attack on civilians is sign that the Kiev authorities are in a state of “agony.”

The governor expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, promising that they would be provided with all necessary assistance and support from the Kursk regional administration.

One of the workshops at the plant was completely destroyed in the strike, with other property also suffering damage, he said.

On Monday, four people were killed and several others wounded when Ukrainian forces targeted a shopping center in the village of Belaya in the Belovsky district.

The next day, Russia repelled the largest Ukrainian drone raid since the escalation between the two countries in February 2022, which involved a total of 337 UAVs. The intensification of attacks comes amid setbacks suffered by Kiev’s troops in Kursk Region where they have been conducting an incursion since early August 2024.

On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of 12 villages around the town of Sudzha, the largest settlement controlled by Ukraine in the area.
